Last Friday the Dr.s told us to prepare for the worst case scenario...yesterday they said expect a full recovery.....the last 48 hours were remarkable...no more dialysis...no more pneumonia..no more slipping into a confused state (dementia)...no more Legionairres disease and other things...all he needs is to get his stamina back and do some physical therapy to get in and out of the bed and start walking....we kept up a 24 hour watch until last night...to make sure he didn't try to get up by himself...the watch has been canceled and normal visiting starts today....I am sure he is chomping at the bit and is thinking about Handicapping...(I think that is the real reason he made it? :) )...I will resume posting when all is back to normal...thanks all for your prayers and kind remarks....Have a great day Handicapping Harness...Good Luck!
More on cleaning up your house when Legionairres is suspected in the continue reading section...we are not sure he got it at home but it seems the most logical to us...and there was standing water in the humidifier....Brother Denny did the research on it....
I just sent this but want to add something: Turn the humidifier OFF now!! Don't even run it.
Did some investigating and made some calls this morning and here is what I found:
The state and county will not do anything if it is a private residence where the general public is not at risk. Testing for the bacteria is done through private environmental labs and are $$$. Regardless, the bacteria is more common than we think and GERNERALLY, only the older people with weaker respiratory or immune systems are at risk like dad with his asbestos lungs. People in the Mark Lane house are generally safe and any plumber that comes to do work is safe if he is healthy and not a smoker, etc. It is best to tell them why they are there of course. NO special hazmat crew or plumber is needed.
I talked to Shannon at the state infectious disease department and she told me the best things to do are outlined below with a few small exceptions…
The 2 fixtures in the small bathrooms should not be an issue..
Shower heads can be removed and bleached thoroughly and replaced……
Water in the water heater needs to be cranked up and then after it is scalding hot, run the scalding hot water through all the faucets to kill any residing bacteria.
I did not know they have a humidifier.. That needs to be checked out for stagnant, laying water (maybe not use it?)
The floor drain in the basement and the slow draining sink NEED to be fixed. Dad has been fucking with the basement for years and that needs to be corrected so that there is no standing water.
Simple stuff that can be done by a good plumber in a day. Everyone will be safe.
An update on $2DaD2$...he is in physical rehab now..getting better each day...probably will be there another week or so...he survived the fight but took a beating doing it....the rest of this Hospital stuff is just child's play....
