Today is my littlest brother Dennis's Birthday...He just happened to turn into a Grandpa on January 31 with the arrival of a new filly...named "Reagan"...Congratulations are in order for both!...in other news I got screwed again at bodog last Monday..I had the pick 3 but nobody bothered to have it on track (Northfield)...so instead of 4k + I got $37 x 8 combo's and another 40 to win on the horse...the 1-2 shot which was covered at the track managed to break or whatever...it was paying the pool...so ...I guess that is not the way to go for the gimmicks...back to youbet for those and only W&P at bodog...still pissed though...$2Dad is getting back into the sulky a bit more each day...he was walking around today on his own (with the cane)...he is doing well .....My back is aching...from the weather?...probably...so I am going to pop a pill and hit the hay.....plenty of time to look over tonight's Trotters...Hope things are going your way Handicapping Harness...Good Luck!

Which newsletter ??

That's no problem, could you answer me this. In one of the newsletters a guy did a study of the investment strategy method and its 10 lines. Are those ten lines the same as the ones on some of Al's programs he uses as examples in the newsletters such as A-1, A-8,A-10 etc Thanks Ron

Sorry Ron, That stuff is all copyright protected. I am no lawyer for sure, but I would not want to risk trouble for myself from SLI or Mr. Stanley. Nor would I risk jeopardizing the privilege Mr. Clocker and Mr. Estimator enjoy by having the permission to post Al Stanley's Harness Handicapping Newsletters at this nice website. Sorry for any misunderstanding. Good luck to you.

Thanks for looking, I have the Professional Methodology (1999) If you had the time what I would like is if you could see what angles were in The Professional Method (1993) that weren't in the one I have and tell me the name (ie. A-1 etc) and what the rules are. And also what the quick pick method is and rules Thanks again Ron

Ron, this is what I have...complete set of the Harness Handicapping Newsletters, Al Stanley's Professional Method ( 1993 updated version), Al Stanley's Professional Methodology ( 1999 ),AL Stanley's Harness Racing Angles (1995), Al Stanley's Quick Pick Method (2000 ? ), Blue Chip Strategies (2004) , Grand Slam for Harness Racing (2007) and his original book from 1968 I think it was.
You are correct about the professional method and professional methodology being roughly the same thing. I do not know what the Game Plan book was. Also,I might have been wrong about the 110 handicapping lessons, but I do know that Al and Sam did provide those "capsules " I mentioned to track programs for many years. Some of his stuff dates back to the late 60's / early 70's , which was before my time. I have only been into harness racing for about 20 years, which makes me a relative youngster ! Maybe there are some other guys around that have more info on Al's stuff they can comment on.

Thanks I am very interested in looking at the investment strategies. One more question, was Al's Game plan, Professional Method and Professinal Methodology all roughly the same just improved or updated as they wnet along

Ron, I believe the 110 handicapping lessons you are talking about were officially known as the Handicapping Capsules. They were just little handicapping tidbits (couple sentences) that track operators put in their programs. It has been a long long time since they have been used here at Raceway Park. I have no idea if they are still used anywhere. I don't think I have the list of them, but I will look. And I will look for the investment strategy also. I have a lot of stuff that I haven't looked at for a long time. I don't even know for sure what I have anymore ! I cannot email you as your email does not show up.
Oh, and you are correct, Al is a great guy. Loves his harness racing and loves to talk about it too. I have been using his stuff for years.

I did a search for Al Stanley and found a forum on paceadvantage.com from 2005 that listed alot of Al's material. I did talk to Al last week, seems like a great guy. I bought Blue Chip strategies and Grand Slam off him, that's all he had left. Could you be a little more specific what was in the condensed version of Bread and Butter. Also is there any way I could get a photo copy of the Investment Strategy Method. Also what was the 110 Handicapping lessons Thanks Ron Estes You can use my e-mail

Hey Ron, the " professional bread and butter method " was a condensed version of the bread and butter method that appeared in the book
" Stanley's Law ". The pro version identified certain lines that would determine a horses shape, and allow a determination on whether to bet or not according to whether you were getting acceptable odds, AND, whether the horse was properly classified. In other words, there weren't so many possibilities as in the book....he tightened the method up. You used quotations " professionnal bread and butter method " Where did you see this ??
