I'm in Michigan for a few days and I headed out tonight with The Clocker and $2 Dad to our old stomping grounds, Northville Downs. It was closing night for the year and there is not too much to say except that it will probably be at least another couple of years before I make a return engagement. With on-line betting, there is just no point in putting up with the crap out there. On a brighter note however, after we drove back home tonight, I hit my 3rd $100 horse of the year (win price) the last race at Northfield Park. Nothing like being able to handicap with no distractions! Have a great day Handicapping Harness!
The The Little Brown Jug goes off today at Delaware Fair. First heat post time is 4:20pm EST. The morning line favorites are Big Bad John (8-5) with David Miller in Heat One and Roll With Joe (2-1) with Ron Pierce in Heat Two. I'm looking at Hugadragon in the second heat to upset at a nice price. Have good luck and a great day Handicapping Harness! (and if you don't have good luck, you can always start whistling "little Brown Jug", keeping in mind of course that the song was about a couple of alcoholics!)
Today is the day before the The Little Brown Jug and Delaware Fair presents us with: The Little Brown Jugette! I know Jugette isn't a real word, but the fillies in the races today sure are. Morning line favorites are Idyllic with David Miller and Strike an Attitude with Dave Palone. First race post time at Delaware is 11:00am EST (thats 5:00am where I live) and the Jugette first heat goes off around 4:00pm. In other news, I see Colonial Downs is sneaking in 5 races today at 3/4 mile. Odd distances certainly seem to be all the rage this year. It doesn't bother me, I think it's good for the fans and good for the sport. Have a great day Handicapping Harness!
I've always wanted to go see the Little Brown Jug, after all, what's not to like? Small town fair atmosphere, fried food, cotton candy and harness racing! That was before I saw what the tickets are going for on the Delaware County Fair website. $30 for the cheapest seat? At a fairgrounds? I don't know what others may think but it sure seems like some steep ticketing to me. Maybe it's okay because you get fair admission also? Right...... Have a great day Handicapping Harness!
While none of the horses are Greyhound, they will all be grey (or roan). The Little Grey Jug is on tap for tomorrow at Monticello Raceway. This year's Grey Jug draws a full and competitive field of 8 pacers. It's a fun promotion and it's always a blast to see nothing but grey circling the track! Have a Great Grey Day Handicapping Harness!
The final results of the contest I was in are posted above. Because I took the trip to Del Mar I was ineligible to win another trip. In lieu of a trip, Bodog posted $5k in bonus money to my account! All told I received a total of app. $12k in prizes and bonus. Thanks Bodog! Everyone have a great day Handicapping Harness!
Well, this is one for the books. I've won a trip for two, from Bodog, to the Pacific Classic at Del Mar this weekend, in a contest I didn't even know I was entered in (or I forgot about it?). Ayway, the trip is airfare, room for two nights, $500 visa gift card, free entry and a free table at the track clubhouse with free food and beverages and limo transportation to and from the airport and track. Bodog has already booked the flights and hotel and the Wife and I leave Saturday morning. Looks Like I'll be Handicapping Thoroughbreds this weekend, along with my usual, Handicapping Harness!
I'm still quietly hanging in there in The Meadowlands Survival Challange. Lost my shoe a week ago and just barely hung on by the skin of my teeth Friday. Saturday was a nice day though. Made the front page for the first time in a long while (TheEstimator). I'm currently in 415th place out of the 1,305 remaining players. Good luck and have a great day handicapping harness!
